Following on from last week’s concerns about seemingly low scores in timed tests, this week we set the parents a challenge and asked them to complete a practice paper at home with their children. We asked them to take the task very seriously and to make sure that they strictly adhere to the timings for each section. We didn’t give the parents the answers!
The paper was a very difficult one and the time constraints meant it was even more challenging.
Having marked all the papers now, I am delighted to see that in absolutely every single household, the child beat the parent by some margin! In one case by a whopping 15%!
I’ve since had some lovely emails from parents thanking us for opening their eyes to the sort of pressure these children may be feeling.
