In the lessons this week we have tried to get the students to understand the importance of ‘moving on’ if they can’t find the solution to a maths problem straightaway. We did this by preparing two tests comprising 15 word problems. In the first test, we made the first 3 questions very difficult and the remaining 12 questions quite straightforward. In the second test, we made the first 12 questions quite doable and the last 3 questions very difficult. Needless to say most students achieved better results in the second test and we hope they have all learnt to move on should they not know the answer quickly!
