Today we did a maths test in class. The test involved 100 questions and we allowed 60 minutes. Our intention was to teach the children that if they can’t solve the problem/question quickly, just move on and more often than not they will find the question will be solvable when they return to it later.
Although again, having marked all the papers, it is clear that the same areas of maths are proving problematical for all students:
Mean, median, mode and range.
Ratio and proportion.
Timetables.
